How to Jailbreak CFW 3.72

Hello! So as most of you know, the PS3 Scene just recently celebrated the one year anniversary of the PS3 being hacked/jailbroken, many, many things have happened in that short year, many changes and break throughs, Now Sony just released new Firmware 3.72 and hackers jail broken thiis CFW 3.72 in no time. If want to jailbreak your PS3 then 1st you need to read F.A.Q,the obvious being all the changes, PS3 owners just getting into the scene, need help and guidance, we also seen a failed attempt at a F.A.Q on another site and i thought that mistake needed to be rectified, with a proper F.A.Q

 

(Q) Why Would I Hack/Jailbreak My PS3 ?

(A) Hacking your PS3, gives you so many new option’s, you will be able to use emulators, homebrew apps and game backups as well as being able to use Linux, after Sony removed the function in firmware 3.21.

(Q) Is there a firmware my PS3 should be on ?

(A) It seems the preferable firmwares are 3.15(For the real OtherOS), 3.41(The original “Jailbreak” firmware) and 3.55(the first CFW PS3), 3.55 and  now 3.72 is the favourite and most used.

(Q) What Firmwares cannot be hacked yet ?
(A) 3.56 to 3.70 are unhackable at the moment, perhaps it will remain that way, or perhaps we will see a break through in the future, only time will tell.

(Q) Is Firmware 3.72 hacked yet ?
(A) Yes! at the moment 3.72 can be hackable.
(Q) What other firmwares can i hack/jailbreak my PS3 on ?

(A) 2.76, 3.01, 3.15, 3.21, 3.40, can all be “hacked” using the PS Jailbreak USB Dongle or equivalent variants, information on the useable devices, and 3.72 can  be “hacked” using the CFW 3.72 Jailbreak Tool V1.0.

(Q) I have my games backed up, i now want to play online, how do i do that ?

(A) Currently there is no way to access the PSN server to play online, even if a new CFW came out, Sony would block PSN again with a new OFW, so your only real option, if you want both homebrew and PSN, is to have two PS3′s

(Q) What are my storage options for backing up games ?

(A) You can install games on the PS3′s internal HDD or use an External USB HDD, which needs to be formatted to FAT32, you can also use a FAT32 USB Thumb Drive, note that with FAT32 you are limited to games with single files under 4GB, if you prefer all your games to be on the internal HDD, you can get up to 1TB 2.5? HDD, or you can use the Xecuter PS3 HDXT method and have your internal HDD on the outside of the machine, the benefit of this, is that you can use 3.5? Sata and IDE HDD’s as internal storage.

How to Use Sony PS3 CFW 3.72 Jailbreak Tool V1.0

STEP 1: Plug a USB stick into your computer
STEP 2: Create a folder in the root of the USB stick called PS3
STEP 3: Create a folder inside the PS3 folder called UPDATE
STEP 4: Download Sony PS3 CFW 3.72 Jailbreak Tool V1.0

Note: This Tool is Protected By Virustotal.com. Click Here for view Details.

STEP 5: Run as Administrator  and click on generate button it will generate PS3.66JBUPDAT.PUP
STEP 6: Move PS33.66JBUPDAT.PUP to the directory UPDATE that you just created on the USB stick
STEP 7: Plug the USB stick into your PS3
STEP 8: Navigate to Settings Tab
STEP 9: Choose System Update
STEP 10: Choose Update via Storage Media
STEP 11: It will say it found Version 3.66-jb
STEP 12: Choose OK
STEP 13: Accept Conditions and Install Update
STEP 14: After less than a minute, your PS3 will update, beep 4 times then shut down.
STEP 15: Power up your PS3 (You will have to do it on the console and not by the controller)
STEP 16: Your PS3 is now jailbroken!

3.72 Version Spoofer 2.0

***** THIS DOESNT ALLOW PSN *** USE AT YOUR OWN RISK *****

No sense in breaking with tradition, 3.72 Version Spoofer 2.0 is now available for 3.41 and 3.55. It works like the Rebug Selector and backs up your current files before activating the spoof, then auto reboots leaving no room for end-user error.
INSTALL:
Press L1+CROSS to INSTALL 3.72 Version Spoof files to your PS3
ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE:
Press L1+CROSS to ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE (System will reboot)
UNINSTALL:
Press L1+CIRCLE to UNINSTALL (this will deactivate the spoofer, remove the spoof files from dev_flash and reboot if needed)

Rebug Update Package 0.2 (3.41.3) and 0.4 (3.55.2)

Install Rebug Update Package 0.2 (3.41.3) or Rebug Update Package 0.4 (3.55.2) (Both include previous Rebug Update Packages) to update REBUG’s version spoof files to 3.72

UPDATER WILL PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TASKS

Update the Rebug Selector package to Rebug Selector 1.6

(Fixes some freezing issues)

Update the current version spoof files to 3.72

Fix NORMAL MODE exit crash

INSTALL

Install Rebug_Update_Package.pkg file from XMB

Run Rebug Update Package from the [Games] menu

Follow the on screen prompts

PS3 will reboot if needed when finished

NOTE: Once the PS3 has rebooted you can delete Rebug Update Package from your XMB as it is not needed.. Enjoy
